More on Women's Ordination
Greg Boyd though I don't agree with some of his views makes some further good points on this subject.
Mailnly the sayings of women are incorporated into scriptural authority in Judges 5, Luke 1:46-55, and Exodus 15:21, this is the sayings of Deborah, Mary, and Miriam.
I forgot to cite Acts 18:26- With Prisiclla and Aquilla being teachers of the Gospel. Boyd points to Prophets in Noadiah, Anna, and Huldah. In Genesis 21:12- God tells Abraham to listen to Sarah. In Philipians 4:2-3 it is made clear how women have taught the Gospel alongside Paul.
Also Galatians 3:28-Could be relevant to this debate, since it seems to eliminate distinctions on basis of race or gender, not behavior though as Pro-Homosexual advocates would have one believe.
-Last night, when a cited the Women cult, it was the cult of Diana.
-Two Points regarding the 1st Timothy 2 text, and the 1st Corinthians 14:34. To start off with I Corinthians 14:34- this is explained by 1 Corinthians 14:35-which states that women should stay silent, so they may ask questions at home. The problem was the inquiry of women interputing the service. This is why as Boyd says I Corinthians 11:5- states women can prophesy. These aren't two contradictions within a few chapters, there was problematic behavior leading to the second one. A lot of the problem with women's ordination in the Bible was the lack of education that women generally had. As Boyd points out in the rabbinic tradition a lot of the talk used in I Timothy 2:13-14 is because Women were thought of as being have to be taught by their more well educated husband. This is why the fall happened, because Adam didn't teach eve.
These points are taken from Across the Spectrum: Understanding Issues in Evangelical Theology as stated on pages 230-235.
The main point with this is to contrast the Biblical support for Women's ordination and approving practing Homosexual Ministers. My main issue with Ministers is if they preach from the Word of God. I don't care if it's men or women that do that. For Luther said this very thing in the Treatsie on Power and Primacy.
