More Star Tribune

http://www.startribune.com/562/story/249772.html

Read this and all you can say is wow. To speak of Roe vs Wade as Redeeming is sad. Read how little value she places to the unborn. This is Narcissim in its purest form.

Abortion is a Civil Rights issue. For the same mindset that led to slavery, and holocaust is behind Abortion. The idea that life in a certain form is inferior to life in another form, so life in the so-called lesser form can be abused or even destroyed.

For Biblical background on Abortion see http://emerti.blogspot.com/2005/07/abortion-debate.html

Stew,

I for one will not disqualify you for speaking out simply because you are a white male. For Pete's sake, women have got to start listening to reason about this thing. Now, I'll agree that it's a little bit wierd to insist that all frozen embryos be given life....

But on the other hand, isn't it just plain awful that babies--who at some stage in their development are actually able to feel pain--are in fact murdered (as a female, maybe I can get away with using that word) because they are inconvenient? Granted, when men impregnate women, they need to show more responsibility for their part in it. They need to provide for the child, and not leave women all alone. When it comes to this, I am a feminist.

But it is a lie to say that it is just a woman's own body. The only times I see any moral warrant to end a pregnancy would be if it is done immediately in the case of a rape...or to save a mother's life (in the VERY rare instance in which this is a factor). But we should not deduce from these two isolated circumstances in which there is no really good choice that therefore women have the right to do whatever they damn well please. Women have a moral responsibility. And if they do not make the choice for life, they will do harm to themselves too...many will end up depressed and riddled with guilt.

A choice to kill is never a good one.

In this case, Anne Lamott couldn't be more wrong.

Stew, never be ashamed to say the truth. Being a male doesn't disqualify you from that.

Rebecca,

Don't worry about that.

One of the biggest misconceptions in the Stem-Cell Research debate is that most embroyos go ununsed.

As far as rape goes, I see the point here, but I don't know if two wrongs make a right at the same time either.

I would never defend a father for his irresponsbility. For instance a lot of problems in the African-American community are caused by very high rates, I believe around 70 percent of the Father not being around. Though there is some Anglo-families were this is the case.

Stew,

Yeah, I hear what you're saying regarding rape. I think it's one of the FEW situations where there really isn't a super good alternative. Anything the woman does will lead to more pain and heartbreak. But I do think there is a moral difference between terminating a pregnancy immediately using something such as a morning after pill...and actually killing what has become a fetus. And in the case of rape, a woman is not terminating the pregnancy out of convenience. But I think it's her choice at that point...because she has to make a decision that she can live with.

But most of the time, abortion is selfish murder.

Doesn't mean it's the unpardonable sin...God will forgive all of us our sins if we just ask Him. There is NO sin too bad to be forgiven. But we have to start calling it sin again.
