What do they believe-Part 4

I was going to do the Unity Church, but I figured I better do their precursor, Christian Science.

What are their doctrinal distincitives.

.They don't belive that the Bible is perfect, in fact they declare parts of it to be irrevelant. In fact the parts they declare to be revelant, are often not taken literally. They believe translations of the Bible contain many errors. So they believe the only perfect source of spiritual truth to be Science and Health with Key to Scriptures written by Mary Baker Eddy in 1875. So here you are starting off on a bad foot already.

. They vehmentaly deny the Atonement theory

.They deny the Trinity. They believe that the Holy Spirit is Divine Science which was essentially the teachings offered by Christian Science. Jesus is basically just our example of how to live out the principles of understanding the divine mind that is within us.

. They deny any sort of personal attibutes of God for that would be limiting of God.

.Sin is a misintrepretation of God's mind, so therefore it is not real as in a doctrine of Orginal Sin. For God would never allow Sin, since God is perfect love. Since Sin is not real neither is sickness. Sickness is rather just a misintrepretation of God's mind.

.They belive Salvation is a process of one's continual surrender to the divine mind.

.So Christian Science doesn't even begin to approach Orthodox Christianity. Although they do believe in Jesus' miracles in not that they change laws of science, but rather natural unfolding of God's power. So miralces like the Virigin Birth were basically triumphs of connection of the mind over matter.
