I am currently working as a Intern Pastor at a Church, with one year of seminary left to complete. Obviously from this blog, I hold Lutheran Doctrinal beliefs. Their are obviously heretical views that were stated by some members of the Seminary faculty. Although, some treat the Bible as an authority, and for that I appreciated their wisdom. From my post on the Text Study, this shows how bad Pastors are in Outstate Minnesota (Which one wouldn't guess is a bastion of Theological Liberalism)
As far as why stay in a mainline denomiation. The reasons are several-fold:
1. There are still people that want sound Biblical teaching. To do this they need solid preachers. I realize there are Churches where my Bible-Based, Doctrinally sound Theology would be ignored. So while their are churches where people wouldn't want to pray, that isn't the situation at the Church I am with now.
2. This was the tradition in which I was raised, and like Luther I stay for reform.
3. I clearly don't agree with any from the material of this blog, with those pushing the world's beliefs. If people with no Orthodox faith perspective were around, this stuff would go unchallenged.
4. So Grace can be preached, not the law that comes so often in mainline denomiations of the Self-Righteous in Mainline denomiations movement. To get away from the mindset of preaching of Christ did this, now you do this. Instead of what I preach Christ died on the cross for our sins, this is the hope it offers.
1. There is definetly a threat of being sent to a church with unsolid teaching. But I am so clear in my Doctrinal positions, I doubt they would want me. I also plan on serving in more rural areas, where that tends not be as much of a problem. A lot of real bad stuff comes from Anglo-Urbanites.
2. You do obvioulsy question if a Church is too-far gone when I cite examples like the Text Study example. But one needs to deal with the laity, not the Heterodox pastors.
3. I guess I might challenge the term "More Faith", I have been to a few Non-Denomiational churches, and know people from those traditions. I would agree more outward with faith. But faith is a belief rather than an expression. This isn't to say that they're aren't people with messed up beliefs in my tradition.

Sorry for the lateness of my reply.
